Youngsters offer festive mail service in Mitford
From Morpeth Herald - "A festive method to support youngsters"
"The 4th Morpeth Scout Group is once again providing its useful Christmas post service.
Cards to friends and relatives can be posted at various locations for the sum of 25p each and they will then be stamped, sorted and delivered by Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to any address within the town and surrounding estates, as well as Hepscott, Mitford and Fairmoor."

Fire crew still at Throphill farm
From Morpeth Herald - "Update: Fire crew still on scene after major farm blaze"
"The fire erupted in a barn, containing heavy plant equipment and hay bales, at Throphill Farm, Mitford. Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) was alerted to the incident at 3.41pm and six appliances - two each from Pegswood, West Hartford and Tyne and Wear - attended the incident. A NFRS spokeswoman said that, initially, crews had two jets and four breathing apparatus in use."

Housing and services bid thrown out

"Mitford Estate LLP, a project of Tyneside’s Shepherd family, sought approval for a scheme which would involve up to 255 houses, services which would include a 60 bed hotel, restaurant and pub, petrol station, shops and hot food sales, as well as a countryside park on the outskirts of Morpeth.
However, Northumberland County Council’s planning committee voted overwhelmingly to refuse the application on Tuesday afternoon – on the basis that the site is not included in two planning guidance documents - currently being prepared - as potential development land."
