An enjoyable and very informative talk entitled “Admiral Lord Collingwood; his legacy” was delivered by Mr Nigel Collingwood at our meeting on Tuesday 11th October. Some 25 people attended this talk and were able to view documents and items from the 1805 Club as well as Mr Collingwood’s superb photos to accompany his talk. Please see the gallery for some pictures taken at the talk. We do hope funds can be raised to the repair the Collingwood statue at Tynemouth.

Our next event is on Tuesday 8th November at 7.30pm – Mr Barry Mead will talk about “Creswell heritage projects”. We hope to see you there.

A reminder that the women’s group will be meeting at The Plough Inn on Friday 7th October at 11 o'clock for their monthly get-together. Hope to see some of you there for coffee, cake and a chat.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning, which was due to take place on Saturday 1st October, 10am - 12noon in Mitford Village Hall has now been cancelled due to the fact that the Plough Inn are holding one on Friday 30th September At 4pm. I hope people will support this one instead.
